About: Guild of Crafts / Chihiro Yamaguchi
After Chihiro Yamaguchi, born in 1960 graduated from Osaka Municipal Crafts High School Fine Arts Department in 1979, he started working for a local shoe manufacturer in Kyoto.
In 1986 he moved to England where he studied at Code Wayners (now London University of the Arts).
After acquiring A Guild of Master Craftsmen Membership in 1990, he returned to Japan in 1991, and as a freelancer,
started to provide design and technical guidance for world renowned and globally established brands. In 1996 Yamaguchi created the bespoke brand
"Guild of Crafts" and in 1999, additionally, the bespoke shoe manufacturing school Salwaka Footwear College. The school has since produced over 400 graduates (2016).
Yamaguchi is currently in charge of lasting, patterning, cutting and bottoming himself, in addition to directing and conducting general production.
